What Wedding Signs and Stationery Do You Need?
The amount of signs you’ll have at your wedding is probably… a lot. It’s nearly impossible to keep track of which ones you need without seeing them all, and you don’t want to realize you forgot one as you’re setting up your ceremony or reception.
Then there’s stationery, which is at least a little easier to remember since they’re mostly going to be the typical informative cards, invitations, thank yous, etc..
Since there’s so much prep that goes into designing, printing and displaying all the signs and stationery, we set up a list of all the basics and the cute extras you might want to have!
Let’s start with the stationery basics:
1. Save the Dates
These are great to do as magnets, since they’re something people will be holding onto for a long time. Also, let’s face it… We all forget to mark important dates on the calendar sometimes, but the fridge is somewhere we’re always looking.
Save the date cards are usually one of the more minimal designs you’ll have in your stationary, since they’re really just to tell everyone what day you’re getting married and what city you’ll be in. They’re also a great opportunity to use your engagement photos, either in the background or next to the minimal text you’ll need to put on them.
2. Invitations
There are so many ways to do your wedding invitations, which makes them one of the more exciting stationery items you’ll need to make.
If you want to design them yourself, either from scratch or with a template (Etsy has tons of gorgeous template options) and then get them printed on high quality paper, we recommend using SmartPress.com. 3. RSVP & Meal Choices
You can choose to do these online, in print or both. Some older guests may be more comfortable with mailing the card back, but if you’re confident that all your guests can respond online, then you can save a ton on printing and design costs. Helpful tools like TheKnot.com, Zola.com and WeddingWire.com make it easy for your guests to RSVP with their meal choices online. You can even go in and add guests who’ve sent the physical card as a response to keep your guest count up to date for an easier planning process.
4. Thank You Cards
If the traditional single fold thank you card with a note inside sounds a little boring to you, don’t worry because there’s plenty of room to get creative. One of our personal favorites is a photo (instead of a traditional card) with a note on the back.
These next stationery pieces are less essential and not everyone will include them. You may even opt to turn them into a large sign to save on printing costs and avoid having extras.
